Estates, guardianships, and trusts from 1807 to present. Marriage records 1807–present (Ohio probate courts hold marriage records on an ongoing basis, not just historically). Also holds birth records 1853–1908 and death records 1867–1908.

Active OGS chapter. Founded 1950 as the Miami County Historical Society, renamed in 1987 when it became the OGS chapter, combining both roles under one organization. Meets bi-monthly (3rd Tuesday), February through October, partnering with the Piqua Public Library's Local History Department.

Troy Historical Society

A separate, city-specific organization (est. 1965) from MCHGS above — Troy's own local history society, distinct from the countywide genealogical society. MCHGS notes there are nine historical/genealogical societies across Miami County's various communities, each with a different local focus. Call ahead to confirm current hours.

Land: Congress Lands

Most of Miami County's land was federal Congress Lands, surveyed in townships and sections and first sold through U.S. land offices. The first buyer of each tract received a federal patent.
