The Series

Beyond the county index

Alongside the county-by-county project, a few standalone series follow single threads all the way through — a soldier, a battle, a paper trail.

Patriot Paths

Revolutionary War soldiers whose descendants migrated west into Ohio. Each episode traces one soldier from his enlistment roll, through his Revolutionary War service, and follows the family line as it moves — sometimes a generation or two later — onto Ohio soil. The soldier himself never has to set foot in Ohio; it's the family's westward path that anchors the story.

Framework: Title Card · Hook · Origins & Enlistment · Military Service · Post-War Migration · Family in Ohio · Pension Struggle · Legacy & Death · Call to Action

Ohio Patriots & Pioneers

Veterans who personally settled in Ohio after their Revolutionary War service — sourced directly from their NARA M804 pension files. These are the soldiers who broke ground here themselves: their enlistment, their service, the hardship of the pension process, and the land they finally called home.
